What happens if you buy a car from someone and they dont give you the title?

My friend bought a car from this guy she has proof she purchased it from pays the insurance and taxes but now he decides he wants it back b/c she's not doing what he wants her do? She has everything and witnesses from his family saying he sold the car to her but wont sign it over what are his chances of getting it back?

if they do not have title you do not buy car. Without court chances are slim.

Regardless of all the drama...whoever holds the title in their name is the legal owner of the vehicle. Her mistake was not getting the title as soon as she took possession of the car as "hers". I believe, unless she wants to take him to court, she will be out of luck. If she chooses to do that, make sure she has sworn statements and all the witnesses along with any related paperwork. If she does that, she may have a chance to win. Good luck.

well if he has the title its still his til he signs it... which shoul dhave been done before money was exchange.. sorry but insurance and taxes is not proof of owner ship she woul dhave to have bill of sign .. time for a lawyer or a big stick

The car might not be his to sell.  Why didn't she get the title AT THE TIME OF SALE?

If you have witness, you can easily sue and win.  But that takes months.  So you sue for MUCH more than what she want (make him worry that he can lose more than the title).  So he has a choice of handing over the title, or risk losing more in the court (even if you know you can't win extra).
