My sister was in a minor car accident and although she got the insurance information of the other driver, she did not make note of the driver's name, phone number, plate number, or license number. She didn't take any pictures or leave her own insurance information. She's not even certain if it was the insured who was driving the other car. What problems could arise from this if she should decide to file a claim? This is in Kentucky, btw.

  1. It would be wise if your sister calls her car insurance company and/or agent as soon as possible. The quicker you report a claim, the quicker the process can get started. Think about it; how many of us can be without our cars for a just a week, not to mention longer? You want to get the insurance process going and repairs done as quickly as possible. Also, the insurer may deny payment of your claim if you do not report the accident within a reasonable period. Make sure you read your policy for more details. Also, the representative will give you information you may need related to finding out information about the other driver and vehicle involved in the accident. The VIN number certainly will help and so will the additional information that you have. 2. What do you mean she did not get driver information just insurance? Did she write down the name on the insurance card? If not the other person can just say they where not involved? If she is going to try and claim it she is going to have a hard time collecting and will have to pay for damages herself. Contact your agent and give him the policy number and carrier and see if he can track it down.
