I know they poison your food on your next visit, but what are some other tactics? Do waiters steal your credit card number?

  1. Tipping is good...

but why would they steal your credit card number?

  2. Well, they don't always do something to hurt people who don't tip, sometimes they just really get mad about it. It depends on the situation who they're mad at. If the food is messed up b/c the cook did something wrong, of course the server is mad!  Cook gets paid the same no matter what.  Server doesn't.  They might try extra-hard the next time you come in or they might just give you minimal service if they think you're going to stiff them anyway.  Unless the server was downright rude or actually did something to hurt you, or spent too much time socializing with staff and didn't help YOU, there's no reason not to tip.  Ex - an especially demanding customer may be taking your server's time away from you.  If it's something regarding rude/socializing/hurting you, I would not only not tip, but IMMEDIATELY let him/her know what's wrong and have THEM get a manager so they can witness what you have to say about them.  I hate to say it, but there's nothing better than shaming the employee in front of their manager to knock them  back into line.

  3. Why would you not tip???? Do you know they make way below minimum wadge and they have to claim 9% of what ever the total bill is. So it cost her to wait on you. You should be ashamed of yourself. And if you have never waited tables maybe you should try it so you will know how hard they work. If you can't tip don't go out to eat.

  4. Well I am a server. If I know its my fault for bad service I understand. But if I gave you everything you wanted and a lapdance then I would be mondo pissed. But actually it doesn't matter to me if I get tipped very well as long as its a dollar or something. And that is why I don't use credit.

  5. i think it is very inportant to leave somthing if u get  poor servce  leave 25 cents it lets them know they did a bad job an not that you just 4got to leave one   ; )

  6. I worked with a server years ago who was stiffed on a 250 bill on a credit card... He wrote the number down, he had the persons name, he found out the guys address, went to a payphone and sent the guy 10 soloflex's.....These days restaurants are required to have software that doesnt show the entire cc number on the receipt.

But it still sucks to not tip... Its common courtesy and servers only make 3.65 an hour. Plus, servers have to pay taxes on their sales, so the person you stiffed actually had to pay to wait on you.

I wouldnt go back if I were you.

  7. No servers won't steal your credit card number. Nothing really "happens." Just next time you go to the restaurant you will probably get bad service (servers talk to each other and let their co-workers know who is a good tipper, bad tipper, etc.) and you will be looked at as a cheap ingrate.

  8. some people prolly would but some people might now!!!!!! but thats messed up you should leave a tip.

  9. i dont know but i wouldnt take any chances..  give a tip always..... who knows what will happen too your food the next time lol

  10. If you don't tip, they'll just curse you under your breath. They'll remember you and always hate having to wait on you. Or.. you could appear on a website that lists bad tippers.

  11. Fire pix is absolutely right on. In the restaurant I work at we have mostly repeat customers and we know 90% of the people that come in there, from what they order, what and how much they drink and even where they sit. It really amazes me that the same people come in over and over again who have NEVER left a tip and expect to get good service.  When they sit there and watch the other tables receiving great service and the servers pulling their tips off  of those tables, they know d**n well theyre supposed to leave a tip.  This is America people,  I dont care where youre from or how much money you have, if you eat in a restaurant and  get good service you leave a tip.  We give you at least 2 chances, sometimes people forget or think someone else took care of the tip, after that youre on your own.  And dont take it out on the server if the cook didnt cook your food properly, if he or she has done everything in their power to make you happy, thats no excuse either, these are the kind of people who have a bad day and go home and kick the dog.   If youre not going to tip go eat at fastfood or stay your lazy, cheap *** at home and cook.

  12. Basically, if you do not leave a tip when you have been waited on, and served food, you are pretty much telling your server to his or her face that you did not appreciate their services. If your service was acceptable, the only reason people do NOT leave a tip is ignorance.

Most likely, your server/bartender is going to assume one of two things:

    1) You could not afford to tip, and therefore scould not really afford to be dining out to begin with.

    OR

    2) You are stingy and cheap, and do not appreciate the fact that someone making less than minimum wage waited on you hand and foot.

Speaking from 7 years past experience as a server and bartender, we DO REMEMBER bad tippers. And we tell our co-workers about you, so that the next time you visit our establishment, we do not expect to make a tip from you, and can focus our time and efforts on people who do tip.

Also, if you tip a bartender poorly, do not expect any favors in the future. You will probably get a weaker than normal drink the next time you visit a bartender you have stiffed in the past.  You will also have to live with slow service, why would someone waste their time on you when they could be helping people who give them good tips?

I have never seen anyone's food be poisoned, or credit card stolen, but you never know. p**s off the wrong person on a bad day, and you are asking for trouble.

  13. Chuck Norris will be waiting for you next to your car and he will roundhouse kick you in the face.

  14. ... i don't think so... but i wouldn't eat there again...

we didn't tip last week because the waitress barely came to our take and didn't refill our coffee, etc... i think she only came to give us our food, didn't even collect our money for the bill... we had to ask another waitress to refill our glasses, help with the bill, and everything else, etc... but since we didn't tip, i'm not going back there

  15. Also remember that servers are notorious for "restaurant hopping".  They stay at one place for a couple months and move on.  If you aren't in a really large area you can become pretty infamous as a bad tipper real quick.  Then you won't be able to get good service at ANY restaurant.

  16. You won't get good service at that place again...we talk.

Oh and you do know we make less than $4 an hour?

If you can't tip go to McDonald's.

  17. never had my card stolen

i dont tip if the service is really really bad

  18. Nobody will want to take care of you next time you visit that restaurant. If the person who served you last time recognizes you (and we always remember the bad ones) they will tell your current server "don't waste your time trying to impress those people...they don't tip". So no one will care that you need a refill or extra napkins. They won't keep an out on your food to make sure it comes out in a timely manner. And they won't bother doing anymore than the bare minimum to get you out of the door. We aren't going to waste our time and energy on people who won't reward us. We will take that effort to really take care of our other guests.
