  4. Hello. I am Australian, but in America you do not HAVE to go, but you must give the court very EARLY notice or you could go to jail. Some court cases, however, you ARE REQUIRED to attend. Soz.

    Yours truly,

    Lachie:-)

  5. The sheriff will come to ur home a slap the c**p out of you. Have a good day

  6. if you've already sent the response telling them you cant go, if they don't contact you, then that means they've accepted your request for exemption. just make sure you sent it before the deadline.

  7. i dunno, well see

  8. Failure to go to court on the date you have been summoned for jury service is a criminal infraction.

You may be fined $121.00 or held in contempt of court.

  9. you'll get in trouble, ask a neighbor if u can get a ride and if they can watch the kids.  if u cant afford a car or babysitter how come u can afford a pc and  yahoo?

  10. Well usually if you dont go i believe they send ya to jail or give ya a penalty. But in situation im not sure probably excuse for it

  11. Send those letters certified so you have a receipt when they try to say you didn't show up.  A judge will honor those if you are ever called on the carpet.....

  12. you get a free night in jail

  13. You get fined alot of money and possibly incarcerated.

  14. they'll issue a warrant for your arrest.

  15. good question. i would like to know

  16. I suppose if you got no response by mail, and you can't talk to anyone by phone, I'd drag my kids down to the jury selection with me and let them know you had to bring them, or CPS would call the police and have you arrested for leaving them alone.

The Judge will get the message and excuse you for hardship.  If you don't show at all, there will be a warrant out for you.  GO with kids in tow.

  17. all you have to do is let them know. DId you get a letter with a reply card you check that you can't do it.

Or they give you a number to call and you can tell them the reasons

  18. I'm not sure if having an ID matters. But, if your child(ren) are 12 and under (I think that's the age limit) and you're the only caregiver for them, then that's ok. You just need to check that off on the summons and mail it back in. Also, having no car and being a single mother doesn't matter. Another thing, not getting any responses might mean they have excused you.

  19. You have to get in contact with them and get it in writing that you are being dismissed from having to do it otherwise you will be in deep doo doo.

  20. you have to let them know by phone at least. if just dont show up, you can go to jail. im serious.
