What happens if you drink alcohol when you are sick with a cold?

When I have a sore throat I enjoy a Bloody Marry. Sipping brandy also helps and who hasn't tried a hot toddy?

alcohol runs down your resistance to sicknesses, it makes you more suseptible to illnesses, therefor, makes you hold on to the sickness longer......

although a hot toddy never hurt anyone...

Well as we all know, alcohol helps us rest, when we're sick our bodies need all the rest they can get, so there must be something to the whole hot toddy thing. I know I feel better after drinking one!

i agree with the hot toddies, honestly my grandmother use to give 'em to us as kids. she'd just use a splash of bourbon, but yeah they help.

it doens't help it could make you more sick and stay sick for longer but you will get drunk twice as fast just like if you were sick and smoked weed you would get higher faster

My husband drinks hot toddies when he is sick,  jigger of whiskey bit of honey , juice of half a lemon heat in the microwave for about 20 seconds.  He is still sick but just doesn't care as much anymore

You know its funny.

I was sick with a cold one time (sore throat, etc.). I had a beer this one time and my sore throat actually went actually went away for while!

I'm not going to recommend alcohol in place of cough drops, but that's just my experience.
