Eat enough and you die.  First symptoms are a numbness and /or a coldness in the hands and feet.  It spreads upwards and inwards until it reaches your trunk.  Untreated you will stop breathing.

Supposedly it is not a terrible way to die, at least the description of Socrates' death does not seem too horrible.
