What happens if you get a subpoena and you don't call into the court to confirm your court date?

  3. Hello Gerri. To carry this out a little further with an explanation, it is the responsibilty of the individual to stay in touch with the court system for your court date. The court will send out a notice to a known address. The fact that it doesnt make it there or you did not get it is not part of the equation here.

    As noted above, if you do not show up on the proper date, a warrent of arrest is automatically issued and will remain in effect until you either surrender yourself or you are stopped at any time in the future. Any time a person is stopped  for any reason, wants and warrents checks are automatically run. If you are driving your car and this happens, you will be arrested and your car will be impounded.

    Best advice is to either contact a lawyer to negotiate this or turn yourself in at a time of your own choosing.
