I am an American living in Mexico (near the border). I want to bring my son's crib to Mexico, but I don't want to pay hefty duty (like 25%-33%) on it. I know it's not so likely that I will get checked, but I want to know what is the worst thing that can happen if I do not declare it and I get stopped?

  1. you have to declare it ,  you have to declare it

if you hide it you will go to jail and they dont play games down there ...........good luck

  2. Why don't you buy a crib in Mexico?  They sell them there too!

  3. A U$D 20, 50 can fix that.

  4. they are gonna take it for a few days, maybe you are gonna get it back but with some fines. aside from the taxes

  5. Bunch of nonsense answers .... it's nothing. no big deal

Take it out of the box so it look sused if you are worried

    Also duty is 17%

  6. Take it out of the wrapping, and just buzz on through "nothing to delcare". lane. No one has ever gone to jail for an undeclared baby crib. If anyone asks, just show him the baby and say you're going for the weekend.

  7. IT IS ACTUALLY 50 - 65%  THEY WILL HOLD THAT AND YOUR CAR FOR MORE THAN A MONTH WITH YOU SPENDING A NICE 3 WEEKS IN JAIL. MANDATORY 10 DAYS IN FED. JAIL AND THE WORSE THINGS HAPPEND THERE.

SO IT IS BETTER TO DECLARE IT,,, PAY THE NICE 15% AND GET IT OVER WITH.

GET A INVOICE MARKED DOWN BY 25% AND DO THAT.  IF IT'S WORTH  UNDER 200,,,,,,  YOU CAN GO  AND NOT BE CHARGED!!!!!!   IF IT'S LIKE 500 THING,,, GET A FAKE INVOICE FOR 330.

              BE SMART AND BE SAFE.
