  1. He could get arrested for reckless driving (20 MPH or more over the limit), or if he blew past a cop and continued with that speed could be charged with felony speeding (not a charge in and of itself: has to be charged in conjunction with evasion of a police officer, destruction of property, or child endangerment, if there is a child under 12 in the car)

  2. He'll get a nice fat ticket and his insurance will go up. He may have to appear in court. There is a reason why the speed limit is 25 in that area.

  3. He would go to jail.  Anything above 25 M.P.H. is technically referred to as "reckless driving."  On top of that he would pay big tickets.  Usually if your going that fast passed a cop, you'd be able to run away without a problem, you know hit a few side streets and jet home.  Unless the cop is already driving.

  4. speeding ticket, wreckless operation ticket, more than double the limit is automatic arrest........

  5. Several things could happen.

If he were caught, it is very likely he would lose his license.

If you are driving more than 20 mph over speed limit, it is considered reckless driving...

If he were caught because he took a turn too sharp and ran into a tree he could die.

Speed is not something to mess around with...

Well, I hope your father enjoys his new car, and can afford speeding tickets.  It sounds like he will get quite a few.

  6. Reckless driving (usually 25+ MPH over speed limit) or Reckless endangerment.
