If you purchase too many things and can't afford it at the end of the cruise what do they do?

  1. Toss you over board....they charge it to your card as you go...no possibility to go over limit...they cut you off.

  2. That'll be between you and your credit card company.

  3. They make you walk the plank!  How long can you tread water, baby?

  4. They put everything to your credit card, so as long as it is approved at time of purchase, they will keep putting it on.

  5. Lucky for the cruise line (not so much for you), that part of your paperwork required before you're allowed to even board the ship is a signed credit card authorization form.  This form basically states that you accept and authorize all your on-board charges to be paid by the credit card you enter on the form.

Even though you generally fill this form out before you get to the pier, you will be required to show it again at check-in.  For those passengers that want to settle their account in cash, they are required to post a cash deposit at check-in, and then are notified on-board that they are nearing their limit and will not be allowed to make additional purchases until they make additional cash deposits.

There's no getting around it - the cruise line will get paid for your purchases.
