  1. Take him to the vet

  2. I have six cats.  One has diabetes and another has hyperthyroidism. The symptoms of both of these are...eating more, drinking more and losing weight cause they are urinating more.  The diabetic will lose weight faster than the cat with a thyroid disorder.

get him to a vet and have him tested right away.  Both of these disorders are common to older male cats.  No time to waste if it is diabetes.

  3. He needs to go to a vet.

  4. might have worms

  5. how do you know your cat doesn't have worms? have you taken him to the vet to have a fecal exam done? you cannot see a lot of the intestinal worms with the naked eye. plus they won't come out in his stools if they are too busy latching on to your cat's guts. if he eats like crazy and doesn't gain even the slightest bit of weight it sounds like worms or another medical problem..

  6. Have you had it's thyroid checked?  Your vet can do a blood test to check it's thyroid.  As in people, an overactive thyroid can cause your cat to not gain weight.

If that's not the problem, then it may just be that his metabolism is naturally high or he gets plenty of exercise and burns excess calories off.

  7. As a previous Vet Tech of 9 years and what you are describing to me, sounds like it could be several things. First you need to take your cat in to the veterinarian for a physical exam and blood work. Sounds like it could be Hyperthyroid, Diabetes, Kidney Failure. At this age all of these are possible and they are very common in older cats.
