If you have sent the embassy a prepaid envelope to return your passport and your passport is lost in the mail, what do you do? Particularly if you're traveling in 3 weeks what can you do?

  1. Execute an affidavit of loss and apply for another passport.

  2. There really is nothing you can do except apply to the passport office for a new passport, then apply to the embassy in question for a replacement visa.

If you are in the UK, then you can replace your passport inside a week or so, and you may be able to sort a replacement visa inside 3 weeks.

If you are in the US, you have very little chance with their passport waiting times.

  3. The US Embassy in manila uses a reliable courier service. In your case, you can actually sue the courier company which lost your passport leading to this inconvenience. This means you have to go back to number 1, get an affidavit of loss of passport, certified by a notary public, report loss of passport to the police ( maybe u can bypass this ) , apply for new passport then apply for a US visa again.

    It is really inconvenient.

  4. call and let them know that you have not received your passport before some one start to use it the lost one can be canceled out
