  1. The time has long since passed when anybody does anything because England says so.

If, however, the British Parliment enact a law, then the people of Great Britain will have to obey it. Northern Ireland, although part of the UK, is not in GB. I believe that NI will pass a similar law to come into effect at the same time.

As an aside, is England the only part of the UK not to have it's own legislative assembly?

  2. Northern Ireland are not affected by the smoking ban in England - however they had already agreed to have a ban on smoking of their own which comes into in force before the English ban! You'll have to move to France if you want to keep smoking!!!

  3. You just carry on puffing your way to an early grave I guess.

  4. As ever, Northern Ireland Will Follow Suit.

  5. We are stopping on the 2nd April 2007. They were going to pick the 1st untill they realised it was April fools day! True.

  6. northern Ireland will have to stop smoking, because whatever way you want to look at it, if you count it as part of UK then you obey UK laws or if you take it as part of Ireland and follow republics rules then you stop smoking too because the smoking ban has been here for a year now and it's working great
