What all do you have to do to pass a CPR class? This will be my first time taking one this weekend and I'm feeling a little nervous.

  1. You'll learn (the hardest portion) basic neurophysiology of the heart - in layman's terms: the neuron where Action Potentials are created which causes the heart to beat.  The fun part is when you'll go through different scenarios of when people have a heart attack (related to the action potentials), and what to do to treat them.

You'll learn how and when to initiate CPR plus other life saving techniques.  RELAX and enjoy it!!  You'll definitely learn a lot, but you'll also enjoy learing and practing it!  It's not that hard.

  2. There will probably be one of those annoying videos and some dummies, you do chest compressions on them and breath into them as you would if you had to do cardiopulmonary resuscitation. To pass, just pay attention, this stuff is honestly really simple.

  3. Please don't be nervous, I had to take CPR class to get get my life-guard credentials a zillion years ago.  It's fairly straight-forward.

BCLS or CPR training courses are run by very nice people who genuinely wish to train you in how to perform life saving procedures in dire situations.  They vary, but typically you'll be trained on how to performed CPR on a baby, a child and an adult (Community CPR).

There's usually a written test (very easy) and then a practical test on a dummy.  The people that run these course have always been very nice in my experience and will work very hard with you so that you become competent in these matters.

    It's really not rocket science.
