I was at a pub the other day and these two blokes had £100 bet on a game of pool, unforntunately one of them potted the black on the break, they had a massive arguement over what happens, is it:

  1. breaker loses...

otherwise I would kick his ***...

  2. house rules, they're different everywhere. even a difference between world 8 ball rules and european 8 ball rules..

  3. One thing for certain is that the rules should be determined before the game starts. In this case re-rack the balls and before the rack is broken the 2 players come to an agreement on the rules.

  4. Re- rack

  5. If the black is the FIRST ball potted on a break then the player wins the game, but if another ball goes in before the black (including the white ball), then its a re-rack and start again.

  6. i thort u re-racked but i cud be wrong!

  7. The breaker has the option of re-racking or spotting the ball on the table and continuing on with the game.

  8. Breaker loses

  9. If the 8-ball is pocketed on the break, breaker may ask for a re-rack or have the 8-ball spotted and continue shooting. If the breaker scratches while pocketing the 8-ball on the break, the incoming player has the option of a re-rack or having the 8-ball spotted and begin shooting with ball in hand behind the head string.

  10. its b) breaker loses

  11. According to the '95 International Rules, if the black goes down off a break, then the person that played the shot wins.

Don't forget that there are many different rules around. Always stipulate (and agree) to which rules you are playing BEFORE racking.

  12. If you can sink the * ball on a break, You win

  13. 8ball on break means breaker looses

  14. Breaker loses, he potted the black before the rest so its pretty simple really,

  15. Breaker looses

  16. This is what happens Peter, those people can argue as much as they like because they are both right. The only way to establish whom is right is to ask which rules are being play before the game. I own a pool hall and i get people asking me of the ruling almost everday and my answer to them is - establish the rules before the game and make sure they both agree to it.

According to the official World Rule 8 ball Federation from England, If the 8 ball is potted during a break , it is a re-rack and the breaker breaks again.

  17. Breaker loses, as it has happen to me before now, and I lost £20.00

  18. b)Breaker looses

  19. Breaker wins automatically

  20. If it is a wager on one game that is something that needs to be discussed before the match is played. to prevent this from happening.   this happened to me before and it was not discussed so we agreed to use the house rules for their local tournament.  Which was a win for the breaker.

  21. Breaker  pocketed  the  8 ball  on  the  break  he  wins  the  game  and  the  cash.......................................

  22. as long as the wight doesn't go down brake wins
