What happens in police training?

i'm curious because i'm thinking about becoming a cop, each place may be different, but what are the basics?

The basic employment screening includes an application, oral interview, background check, physical agility test, medical screening, and possibly a polygraph.

As far as the training, you are correct... that is established by the state and will vary. It will include professional communications, traffic law, criminal law, court procedures, vehicle operation, arrest tactics, and firearms.

Most larger and mid-sized departments have a website with recruiting information. Do an internet search of a department you may be interested in, you should find plenty of information there.
