If you put too much gas in your car? Would it like blow up or something.??

  1. No, it will just spill out- a waste of money.  When it gets to the first "click," it's time to hang up the hose.


  2. You can't put "too much" gas in your car.

    The fuel tank holds a certain volume of fuel.  When you fill up the tank, that available space is decreased to the point where the tank and filler pipe are filled and the fuel overflows outside of the vehicle.  That is the simple explanation.  

    The more detailed explanation is that fuel vapours get into the charcoal canister and can trigger the Check Engine Light on some vehicles.  This is why you should just stop pumping the first time the nozzle "clicks" and shuts off.  You should not try to keep topping up the tank after it has clicked.
