After the war Germany and the city of Berlin were divided in 4 sectors, that ended in the ground of the DDR and the BDR in 1949.

The BDR was controlled by USA, France and Great Britain, the DDR was under the control of the Soviet Union.

Berlin was situated in the Soviet sector, but the city was also divided in 4 sectors and the sector not controlled by the Soviet Union  remained isolated, by the famous Berlin's Wall, and there were many tensions around the 2 new countries being the symbol of the Cold War.
