Question:

What happens to a upper arm hairline fracture untreated?

I took a good fall on my left upper arm 9 days ago. There is still more pain then I would have expected, especially if I put any weight on my arm or reach backwards. I wonder if I could have gotten a hairline fracture. No bruising, no real swelling... I know an x-ray is the only real way to tell. I am afraid I will not be allowed to work...and I do not have enough sick time to compensate. I am hoping I can just baby the arm and not have to have it casted. Can it heal if I am careful? The pain is manageable, but I am a little uncomfortable at night. Thanks for your opinions.

  1. If you don't get medical treatment you'll end up sorry

  2. hairline fractures any fracture for that matter will eventually heal by themselves self, and sometimes hairlines do go without casts.the problem is it could be lots of things for example, rotater cuff ( in the shoulder) you never know a severly bruised bone is very painful and takes a good while to heal.
