My golf clubs are half an inch shorter but I dont think the lie angle is properly fitted for me. So my question is, if at impact the club face is square, but the toe is up a bit....what will happen to the ball? Thank you.

  1. pulled shots , take to club repair shop , this time of year three dollars per club to flatten lie . the longer the iron more of line it will be

  2. If they are too upright the heel should dig first resulting in the club closing through impact. You should allow a pro to fit you properly for clubs.

  3. When the toe is "up" the face is closed.  The higher the toe, the more the face starts to aim left.  The more loft on the club, the greater the effect.  So with a wood, the effect should be quite small and therefore, you dont hear about lie angle with woods.

  4. Generally if your impact is square with the toe up, the ball may hook or draw. Toe down, you may fade or slice.

You could compensate, but the next time you get a new iron set you will have to learn a new swing for that set too. Go ahead and get fitted, the $50 you spend could be the cheapest piece of mind you ever buy. Your clubs should fit you, not the other way around.

...who ever gave this answer a thumbs down is either really funny, or a complete drooling idiot.

  5. A little confusing. If the clubs were too short the toe of the club shouldn't stick up in the air. However, even if they are short and the lie angle is such that the toe does stick up in the air the tendency would be to hit a draw.

Sure, you can choke down to correct that. You will probably lose a miimal amount of distance because of a deceased club head speed.
