What happens to colslaw in the compost bin ?

thought i would put some in the compost heap so im not wasting any, its will be good soil one day, well all i want to know is does it compost or not ?

  2. It will rot down if the rats don't eat it first. About 70% of my work is caused by people putting food in their compost bins.

If your coleslaw already has a dressing on it, like a vinaigrette or similar oil based dressing, it will not rot down.  Only pure organic matter can rot down properly in a compost bin.  The dressing/sauce part of the coleslaw will prevent this natural process and encourage vermin to invade your bin and have an easy meal.  However, if you've shredded too much cabage, carrot, onion and just put that in the bin BEFORE the dressing was added, then that'll be fine

    It's best to remove the stuff from your bin, before the mice and rats do...
