I was in the gifted class in school. But look at me now. I don't even have a job! And some people think I'm dumb.

  1. Yeah....that happens you either make it or you don't. Most gift children in high school are not socially well adopted and that carries on into their adulthoods. Therefore being social is as important as being academic smart at school. On the other hand, look at where it got Bill Gate huh....rich and famous.

  2. Gifted children ( generally called like this when there IQ is very high) tends to have problems socializing when they grow if they did not receive a good continuous attention. This is because they normally dont think and behave like others and they may sometimes be rejected or are not understood at all. In certain cases to communicate with others, a gifted child may change completely and even hide consiously or not his special ability.

  3. Well I don't know what to tell ya?

    Lots of them become teachers.

    What are your interests?

What level of education have you finished?

Always remember that you might be the smartest person in the room, doesn't mean that you should act like a (you fill in the blank) to the rest of the people there, or around you.

Not everyone can always think or see things on your level and though it is a great thing to be smart, it isn't always a good thing to wave it like a colorful flag in front of people's faces.

If people think that you are dumb, perhaps your social skills can be polished up a little. There are great courses for that.

Listen, I have a 'GT' kid, married a card carrying Mensa member and I am constantly reminding them of social graces and how utterly important they are, sometimes above all intelligence ever given them.

Perception and the impression that you make with others is what will get you places, in the door and present you with opportunity. Your intelligence and smarts is what will get you the rest of the way.

If you're truly smart, you're half way there. Work on the rest and you'll be fine.

    Good luck!

  4. Although I'm in my final year of high school, I was too put in gifted classes in elementary (they don't offer them in my school), but now people think I'm below average in intelligence. I don't have great grades, and I'm really struggling. But I think what that shows is that intelligence can't really get you far. It's what you do with it. You're going to have to work really hard to achieve what you want to achieve. You have to show people that you're smart by accomplishing a lot. It may be shocking and hurtful that people think that you're dumb now, but people will always have their own ideas, no matter how wrong they might be.

Ambition and hard work will get you want you want to achieve.
