Do I have the option of either taking cash or equivalent in Roche shares? What do you suggest? I know in my existing investment platform I can only buy and sell in US and Canadian markets. will I have very non-liquid shares then?

  1. First of all, it's not a done deal yet.

I believe Roche offered cash, but since the deal isn't final, that may change.

If the deal closes as a cash deal, then on the day it occurs, your brokerage account would simply show that your Genentech shares had disappeared and the equivalent amount of cash will be credited to your account -- you don't have to do anything.
