What happens to my work permit after my contract with my company ends?

I have a five year work permit here in UK which was sponsored by my current employer. My contract is for one year, will i be able to use my present work permit to work for another company after my contract with the present one is terminated?

  1. I would have a word with your new employer, and see if they will sponser you. good luck


  2. If you look at your work permit you will see it is specific to the company you're working for.  It is not exchangable.

  3. No.  As the first person says your visa is directly linked to the company and not exchangeable.  When the contract ends then so does your visa (I think you have 1 month additional leave off the top of my head, but do check it with the embassy)

    To carry on working you would have to obtain a new visa, and may mean that you have to return to your home country to apply.  

    Best thing is to check out your status well in advance officially so you can be sure
