I've been reading about the use of hydrogen for fuel and what bothers me is how the book said hydrogen is the most abundant gas in the universe, however it is almost always combined with other molecules, so what happens to everything once its separate? Like water (H20) for example if you split them you get two molecules of hydrogen and one of oxygen, the oxygen is released back into the atmosphere and the hydrogen is used or it escapes back into the atmosphere, but what happens to them on the grander scale, if everyone did this would we lose water or does it somehow recombine, and what happens to the used hydrogen?
