  1. our body is destroyed when we are dead, but in resurrection, our body will not be like the ones we have here, they are of anothr kind. the kind that that will make it possible to live forever!

  2. First---There are 2 resurrections.

The first is for the earliest, faithful, Christians --a small (by comparison) group-- who are assigned to heavenly life alongside God's anointed King, Jesus Christ.  They will all rule together as King-Priests of Jehovah God, and bring the Earth, all of its inhabitants, & society to complete perfection.

The second resurrection --after Armaggedon-- is for ALL of the dead from the past who weren't knowingly & willfully rebellious against Jehovah God during their lives.  These are assigned to live on the Earth, where mankind are originally designed & intended to live.  All will be educated as to Jehovah's righteous requirements, so that they can each make totally informed decisions as to whether or not they wish to comply.

Whichever assignment / resurrection a person recieves, they will keep their bodies!

Those resurrected to heaven OR earth, will keep whichever type of bodies they are resurrected with.  Only those tried & true are resurrected to heaven.  But all kinds of people are resurrected to live on earth!  The test of being 'tried & true' for these will come after the thousand years are over--as explained*.

  3. And we see how science fiction creeps into religion or vice versa...

our spirits become a mightly collective?

we receive new bodies? is that like the pod people?

bodies which can still travel through solid matter? teleportation?

glorified bodies of flesh and bone which are no longer subject to the fall or mortality.

EDIT: it's a natural law that matter in this fallen telestial sphere decays.  We do not have a fullness of understanding of the nature of our bodies after the resurrection.  We do know that we will have bodies of flesh and bone [blood is not mentioned, so I ponder whether blood is a contaminating factor of mortality and our veins will flow with something else in the eternities].  Those who die after the second coming in power and glory of the Savior will be quickened or resurrected in the blink of an eye.  The matter with which our bodies are formed during this mortal coil regenerates every x years.  The reuniting of matter to spirit will be in the form of our current bodies - to the extent that we will certainly recognize one another from this earthly experience.  The whys, hows, wherefores, etc are part and portion of laws beyond our sphere - literally.  These laws are celestial not telestial - eternal and perfect, not fallen.  We do not know [nor is it necessary for salvation/exaltation to know] if matter must regenerate in exalted spheres through processes similar to what we experience on earth [eating, expelling waste, etc].  We do know that the resurrected Christ ate fish, etc with the apostles.  We do understand that all things virtuous and good are of God - and it's to be expected that they will continue in an exalted sphere as they are sources of joy [thanksgiving dinners with the family gathered round - sports & hobbies - etc].

  8. We get them back as glorified bodies. A glorified body is one that shares in many of the attributes of a spirit. It can no longer suffer or die. It can travel with the speed of thought. It can pass through material objects. It can never grow old or sick and remains eternally young.

  9. they are perfected...thats really the only thing the church or the bible teaches...

meaning i gather they will not be flawed..and we will not age...for there is no time...

  10. of course we keep them, the resurrection is the inseperable union of the body and spirit.

  11. Hopefully I will come back about 30 lbs lighter, that's all I ask

  12. One of my favorite O.T. verses on the matter of resurrection is in the Book of Job, Chapter 19, wherein Job testifies that he knows that his Redeemer lives and that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.  He (Job) further testified the he knew that, though his body be consumed by worms, yet in his flesh he would see God.

  13. why wouldnt we keep them?

Jesus Christ kept his body. His apostles could touch him, feel the wounds in his hands and feet and side.

I believe we will keep our bodies. That we will be judged and sorted and then continue on.

  14. Our bodies and our spirits are reunited in whole and perfect form at the time of resurrection, in a glorified, immortal state of flesh & bone for eternity - just like the Savior's was and is today.  Thus - He lives!

  15. When we resurrect we are united with our body.  We don't take up the mortal body we laid down.  We reunite with our body in it's immortal form.  A body that is not subject to death or the pains thereof anymore.

A body of perfection as was originally created in the garden with Adam and Eve.

Once we are resurrected we are judged according to our lives in this mortal state.  With our body and spirit united we are fully accountable for all that occurred.  A perfect remembrance is given and after the judgment has been declared a glory is given.  As Paul explained, "There are also bodies Celestial, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.   So also is the resurrection of the dead.  It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption.  It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: (1 Cor. 15:40,42-43)

These bodies we keep throughout the eternities because of the infinite atonement made by Christ.  The raising of Lazarus was just that.  He was raised from the dead back into his mortal body.  He died again.  Jesus was the first to be resurrected and there were many who too were resurrected after him. (Matt 27:52-53)  This beginning, if you will, is called the morning of the first resurrection.  The morning of the first resurrection occurs with the righteous and is climaxed at the second coming of Christ.  When those who slept in the grave rise to meet him and come with him in glory.  Other deemed times or periods of resurrection will occur for those who were wicked.  Their time will be at the end of the millenium.

  16. During the resurrection, out spirits and bodies become reuninted, never to be separated again.

Here is what the Bible tells us about that:

The reuniting of the spirit body with the physical body of flesh and bones after death. After resurrection, the spirit and body will never again be separated, and the person will become immortal. Every person born on earth will be resurrected because Jesus Christ overcame death (1 Cor. 15: 20-22).

Jesus Christ was the first person to be resurrected on this earth (Acts 26: 23; Col. 1: 18; Rev. 1: 5).

The New Testament gives ample evidence that Jesus rose with his physical body: his tomb was empty, he ate fish and honey, he had a body of flesh and bones, people touched him, and the angels said he had risen (Mark 16: 1-6; Luke 24: 1-12, 36-43; John 20: 1-18).

All people will not be resurrected to the same glory (1 Cor. 15: 39-42), nor will all be resurrected at the same time (1 Cor. 15: 22-23).

Many Saints were resurrected after Christ’s resurrection (Matt. 27: 52).

The righteous will be resurrected before the wicked and will come forth in the first resurrection (1 Thes. 4: 16); the unrepentant sinners will come forth in the last resurrection (Rev. 20: 5-13).

Though this body be destroyed, yet in my flesh shall I see God, Job 19: 26.

I will open your graves, and cause you to come up, Ezek. 37: 12.

Graves were opened, and many bodies arose, Matt. 27: 52-53.

The Lord is risen, Luke 24: 34. A spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have, Luke 24: 39.

I am the resurrection and the life, John 11: 25.

    The Twelve Apostles taught that Jesus had risen, Acts 1: 21-22 (Acts 2: 32; 3: 15; 4: 33).

  17. Resurrection will occur here on earth. So if we die before Armageddon, then we wait, we sleep till Jehovah God resurrects us here on earth. He is the Almighty, I'm sure even to those whose bodies have decomposed or even are dust, He will bring our bodies back to how they were.

  18. I notice most of the people here think that the resurrected body will be our original body of flesh. Here are some verses to consider. From what I can tell, our resurrected body will be a spirit body.

Here is how Jesus' body is described in heaven:

Revelation 1:13-17  And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.  (14)  His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;  (15)  And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.  (16)  And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.  (17)  And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

Here are verses that describe that our earthly bodies will pass away.

2 Peter 1:13-14  I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body,  (14)  because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.

2 Corinthians 5:1-2  Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.  (2)  Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling,

Philippians 3:21  who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

1 Corinthians 15:42-50  So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable;  (43)  it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;  (44)  it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.  (45)  So it is written: "The first man Adam became a living being"; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.  (46)  The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual.  (47)  The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven.  (48)  As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven.  (49)  And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven.  (50)  I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

Personally, I'll be ready to trade out my old body. I'm tired of it being broken down. If you believe that we will have the same body as now, we have to wonder about those born crippled, or with two heads and stuff.

  19. I was talking to my mom about this the other day.  She had always thought that you were resurrected in the same body you had when you died.

So we got to talking about it, and I asked- if you died at sea, and fish eat part of your body, and lets just say one of the many fish that ate you gets caught and eaten by another person, how would your notion that you have the same body as when you died work?  Two people cant share the same mass.

Then we discussed the scriptures that talk about there is one flesh for the earth and another for heaven.

So I believe we will have very real bodies, and they will be as solid as ours are now, but they will not be the same molecules that make it up.  I think its about gaining a perfect form than our bodies cant handle in their current form.

We know we are children of a Heavenly Father and we were created in His image.  He created everything in the earth and everything in the earth grows to meet the measure of its creation- or in otherwise, the seed holds the potential to grow to be just like the great tree it comes from.  We know He has a body of Flesh and Bones, so certainly we will have one when he makes us perfect.
