What happens to the deed at the time of sale?

  1. The deed is transferred from the seller to the buyer.  Then the agent/attorney will collect monies and fees.  Depending where you live it will be filed at the local govermental authority.  After the transfer process with the goverment authority the new deed will be sent to the new owner.  Even though you may still have the old one that does not mean you are the owner still.
