  1. All organs will shut down.  Ultimately, individual death is the result of cellular death and the real ultimate cause is lack of oxygen.  If you bleed to death, oxygen can't be carried to the cells in your organs.  If you asphyxiate, then no new oxygen can enter your lungs to be exchanged into your blood.  If your heart stops, then blood isn't circulated and oxygen isn't transported to your organs.

Without oxygen, your cells cannot undergo cellular respiration, which is how we harvest energy from the chemical bonds in foods to be used to do cellular work.  If your cell has no oxygen, it has no energy to keep itself alive and therefore dies.  When enough cells in an organ are deprived of oxygen, the organ itself can no longer perform its functions.  Organs like kidneys are very susceptible because they are constantly working to filter wastes from your blood.  If cells in your heart die, then it will no longer be able to maintain its electrical impulse and eventually will be unable to contract to circulate your blood.
