every other week the recycle pick up people pick up the things we want to recycle, like newspaper, papers, cardboard boxes, what happens to them? do they actually recycle them or not?

do workers have to sort them out then make them into more paper??? some people say that they don't actually recycle those.

what about the papers we throw in the recycle bin at school too? what happens to them?

~~thanks!~~

  1. That is a fantastic question!! The first answer is that it depends on where you live and what kinds of facilities are near you. In order to truly answer what happens to what *you* recycle, you may need to make a few phone calls to the local government or town hall. If you are school age, this would be a great report and I bet teachers would give extra credit.

I'm a full grown person who works in the environmental industry, watches what a buy, eat, recycle, etc. and I still don't know what happens where I live (just moved here). But for example, down in the Caribbean Islands, they just throw everything away, even glass and cans (very easy to recycle) because it costs more to ship it than it's worth. Again, check this out locally. Maybe you have inspired me to!

  2. they reuse them. likee make theminto other stuff=)

  3. It all gets sorted out

  4. they go to the recycling place

  5. Well it they sometimes make it into new paper, and ya the workers do have to sort that stuff.

  6. Recycling centers sort and separate recyclables.  Paper and paper products go to paper mills to be made into pulp for new paper products.
