What happens when I email [e-mail]?

Who gets the message? Do all group members get it as a result or just the owner? And does it get posted anywhere in the group?

It gives an error because it goes nowhere. You should have written [e-mail]

it only goes to the group owner and any/all moderators

Instead of @yahoo.com, you should use @yahoogroups.com when sending email to a group you subscribe to.  If messages are "moderated", the group owner and moderators will receive them. When they read & approve the messages, they are posted on the group site and are sent to members including owner & moderators via email.  If messages are not moderated, they are immediately posted on site and go to members including group owners & moderators via email.

Moderators work closely with the group owner to assist in running the group.
