Would I be charged some ridiculous fee that won't be worth it? Or what? --this is with a Washington Mutual account, by the way.

  1. I don't think that debit cards let you use more than you have in your account. It usually says on the screen of the debit swipe machine thing limit exceeded or something like that.

  2. Depends. Bank I work at you have to be overdrawn by more than 5 dollars to get a fee. Also do you have overdraft protection? If you do it will go through and you may get a fee. If you don't your card will be denied.

  3. They might not scream, depending on their policy they might have a five dollar extention or some such, but I wouldn't fool around with this. Banks don't like overdrafts, and there just might be a monetary penalty in your case

  4. You will possibly recieve an overdraft fee for that item depending on how the transactions post to your account. If that transaction posts to the account prior to some of the other items you have on hold you will not recieve a fee for that item, but you will recieve an unavailable funds fee on each item that is holding. Either way, if you think your only gonna get one fee be ready to get more and they are all $35 each.

  5. I BELIEVE IT IS $39.00  AND  A lot of problems, if some check bounces...

  6. if you try to overcharge a debit card it will show up as an error or something because you don't have enough money. debit cards only draw from whatever amount you have in your account. only credit cards allow you to go over because its just a line of credit.

  7. On my account, I have money in savings that is attached to my checking account. If we go over, then it takes from the savings account. If you have no money in savings and you overdraw your account with a debit charge, you will be charged an overdraft fee. My husband once paid 37.00 ( $2 for the soda and $35 in overdraft fee) for ONE Dr. Pepper...I told him I hoped it tasted good!!

  8. Well, that's fraud, actually.

  9. If you overdraw your account 1¢ or $100 the fee is the same.  $35 I think.  A lot of times a debit card won't let you overdraw.
