  1. You did not say A caution for what, but if it is for equipment failure such as A tail light out . They will check that you have repaired it. That's all as fare as I know. it may very from state to state

  2. I think you mean citation. citation means you have a ticket that is either fixable or has a fine payable to the courts. the reason you have to go to court is that you are innocent until proven guilty and thats where the judge comes in, when the judge asks innocent or guilty.you must answer and prove yourself so they can document these facts and either fine you or dismiss you or see proof of fixing the citeable act.

  3. In the UK you are taken down to the police station or sometimes asked to attend. They will take a statement from you and usually your fingerprints and a photograph. Finally they will tell you that you are officially cautioned in relation to said offence. You sign a few forms. You go home.

  4. You do not state in which Country you are, but in the Uk a caution is given as an alternative to a court appearence, there are warnings, final warnings and lastly a caution. You are generally given an official caution by an Inspector though it can be administered by a sergeant. As to fingerprints

, photographs and DNA. If you had been arrested and then bailed for decision you would already have had these procedures. If not you will only have these procedures carried out for a caution if it is a recordable offence. The caution is recorded and will show on any Police national computer check. hope that helps.
