  1. Play even continues in snow!  I played in upstate NY- negative 30 F with the wind chill... we all had frostbite!  they had space heaters on the sidelines... but i couldnt feel it and melted my laces together on my boots and burned holes in the back of my pants.  Thats dedication!

As long as there's no lightning, play continues.

However, a team can deam a field unfit and refuse to play a matrix match, without suffering the penalty of a forefit if it is too "dangerous" with too many puddles, mud pits.

  2. you get wet!

I saw a match once where people were nearly drowning in puddles!

If there is lightning it will likely get called off and if the grounds are flooded before the game _ unless its an international the game will be postponed or cancelled

  3. I've never known a game to be stopped because of rain,in fact when i played i prefered it when it rained, the ground was much easier on the body :)

  4. rugby has never been stopped because of rain. it's not like tennis or cricket where you have to take the pitch or the court into considerasion. and the chances of someone dying is just as big as if it was a sunny day. actually, thinking of it.... the only deaths ever reported because of rugby was always a match played in sunshine. players are more carefull in rain because they know the chances of injury is greater.

  5. just like any sport u keep playing.

  6. Rugby players carry on through all weathers like real men.

  7. No, many rugby games carry on in the rain. Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland all have very wet climates and wouldnt ever play if it was dangerous in the wet. Its up to the Referee to decide when its TOO wet and becoming dangerous.

  8. A litle rain won't hurt a rugby player.  Rain complicates the game (makes it hard to keep footing) but it doesn't stop.  Unless it is lightening my team will still play. I've played in games in which when tackled a player would make a huge splash!!! as well as snow sleet or hail. The game must go on.:)

  9. What happens when it rains in rugby?  You get wet, the ball gets wet, the wet ball forces handling errors, which means the pack has to work more, which means a beer shortage for weeks to come.

Seriously however,  Rugby is played rain or shine, sleet or snow.  The only time it's cancelled is if there is lightening, but thats true for any outdoor sport

  10. they carry on ...

  11. It is NOT true that it gets stopped (and even so i don't think the reason would be because of the possibility of death).

Playing rugby in the rain, because of the wet conditions, usually results in more sloppy play, more rucks and mauls usually occr as it is easier to manouvre without the possibility of missed passes. More of the game is played territorially, as teams usually make more mistakes (i.e. a lot of kicking as catching a wet ball is very hard to do).

Even so, games are not stopped -- they are usually still as entertaining as ever, and not only so, they're much more fun to play as well :)

    Hope this helps~

  12. Look at the Leeds v Wakefield challenge cup final at Wembley in 1968. The pitch was covered in water and was known as the watersplash final and that will tell you the answer.
