What happens when people get surgery on the back?

Question

eg anything that needs done on the back of the body.

in terms of the air mask,what happens?

Ive only seen surgery done on the face side.

they put you to sleep the same way, turn you over, either a cut out in the operating table for the face down or the head is placed to the side.

They lie on their front for a couple of weeks!

they have a hole on the bed where the face is going to be. sorta like the massage bed. =]
