We have been granted a permanent visa for Australia (My husband and I) three months back. We have until Feb 2009 to do our initial entry on the Australian soil. Just discovered that I am pregnant - Anyone knows about the visa procedures to allow the child to come with us?

Thanking you

  1. Well if you have the child on Australian soil then the child is born Australian because you have permanent residence.

If you have the child before you go to Australia you will need to fill out the forms to have him listed as a dependant. I believe you need a Child Visa (Offshore) (Subclass 101) visa.

It is not possible to register a foetus/unborn child as a dependant. Only live babies can be registered.

  2. Contact the government office that granted you the visa and ask them for the answer to your question.
