  1. They have a tendency to not fire people, instead they lean toward the idea of making your life miserable for the rest of your days in service. Depending on the infraction, they might just take your money and confine you to quarters or the brig. See, the thing of it is, is that they train you to do your job, therefore they know that you know that they know what is expected of you. If you revolt and dont perform your duty or perform it in a haphazard way they frown on that. In fact they even came up with a name for that kind of shoddy performance . . . . they call it dereliction of duty. Yep, a couple of many different things can happen to you for "gundecking" your duties . . . They'd probably start you out with some "Extra Military Instruction," EMI can come in many forms, usually it entails long hours and the grungiest work they can find for you. If you dont respond positively to that, and be a happy go lucky 4.0 sailor from there on out,,chances are the Negative reinforcement will continue until your moral improves. Worst case is that they make you snap your wrapper and you do something stupid, like striking a superior officer, and you get to spend some time in Kansas, Leavenworth that is. At that point you will probably get your wish and get fired, at the same time you'll get a dishonorable discharge too. It could be worse, back in the day, they'd of considered you as mutinous and just hung you from the yardarm or worse . . . what could be worse than hanging you ask . . . . well they call it keelhauling. they tie a rope to your arms and a rope to your feet throw you over the front of the ship and pull you back and forth, port to starboard, under the keel of the ship allowing you to surface just long enough to grab a breath of air . . . and then back under you'd go. eventually they'd pull you back up, and gauranteed you'd be happy to do what was required of you after that.

  2. If you get fired from the navy, you are discharged, just like any job. So no, you don't get paid.

  3. It's called getting discharged. No, they don't get paid. And if they get a "dishonorable discharge" it's hard to find good civilian jobs because that will follow them forever.
