... every 3 months? Are they doing any serious damage? What could happen? My friend has it but doesn't always get her prescription in time. Sometimes she can go for a week or two without taking anything before she's finally able to pick up her prescription. Is this dangerous?

  1. hi,when someone dont take levotyroxin(the drug of hypotyroid)happened :drowsy, impatient, hear problem, vaginal bleeding(if she is a female),eye and see problem.i am hypothyroid and take levothyroxin and know problems of forgoten take drug .they appeared 3 days after stop takin drug of hypothyroid.

  2. It returns her within a few days to her hypothyroid state. Theoretically this increases her cardiac risks. The hormone is designed to give constant blood levels and the replacement needs to be taken EVERY day to mimic this.

  3. I  know someone with that condition and it isn't wise to stop the meds. The condition puts undue pressure on the heart and could cause a heart attack

  4. I have the same complaint. I would say it is silly to skip medication for so long a period, as she will feel ill & it could be dangerous.  Being prescribed medication means you require to take it as prescribed. I cannot think of a good reason not to be able to pick up the prescription.  Try to explain to her how foolish it is .  Good luck.
