Are they heavily looked down upon, etc?

They said one gymnast was going to be awarded a house for her family if she won, but what happens when she didn't win?

  1. they go back to the sweatshop

  2. I heard a rumor that they lose a toe for every event they failed to gold medal in... but I'm sure it's just a rumor

  3. In the past gymnasts have "disappeared," but the truth of the matter is that nobody knows. They are under a lot of pressure, it could be that they know wht will happen if they mess up. Gymnasts have disappeared from China. I heard that an athlete was told that he'd be deported if he lost. I wouldn't put much past the Chinese government though.

  4. execution

  5. Shes going to die. No, Nothing happens Maybe a broken heart but nothing happens

  6. Nothing, they just go back to their daily lives and continue training.  I believe the government will secure them with a good education and a good job for the rest of their lives.

  7. Even she does well, there is always millions more better than her waiting to replace her.

If she don't do well she don't get pay now to make her life better.

  8. well, life goes on for them...

and if she didn't win, then i guess no house for her family...

    wierd question...-_-.

  9. no they go home and laugh at losers like meggy cho who lives as a hoe

  10. They just go on a live a regular life. They can opt to leave the national training center and go home or continue to stay at the training center if they are still good. When and if they leave or stay at the training center is not always their decision.

  11. Nothing. Dont be so naive :)

  12. I know the answer to this one, my uncle works for the Abraham Lincoln foundation in Beijing, and he has personally met with several chinese athletes of the past.  Don't believe the american idiot tale: "They get killed." The truth is that after they finish their Olympic career, they can pick the university of their choice inside china and pursue a career that they love.

  13. Well, school starts soon, so I imagine they're allowed to go back to the third grade, where they came from, and they're allowed to stop pretending they're 16 years old.  Just a hunch, I dunno... :/

  14. I'd imagine that life goes on for them, much like with everyone else.

Bellaamore - Cheng Fei competed in Athens.

  15. I Think they would still try and compete but probably not the next olympics as china like to stick with really young girls... i don'tt think i have seen a chinese gymnast compete at 2 olympics....

  16. They go back to the orphanage and some rich American family will adopt them.

Truthfully, a good amount of these girls are from Chinese orphanages, so if they fail at the sport they were chose to perform in, where do you think they go?  Back where they came from.

  17. yeah as someone here said, nothing will happen and some rich American people will adopt her...so in the next Olympics she will represent the US...that usually happens...it seems you guys have no really good athletes...

  18. They probably get the c**p beaten out of them by their coaches, without their families ever knowing because they never even get to see their families.

And Chinese gymnasts have the highest turnover rates. We will never see these girls again, their careers are toast, regardless of how they did. That's just how their culture is. In an effort to make a facade of excellence, they sacrifice the well-being of the individual. Their govt. doesn't care about any of them.
