  1. No foul has been committed.   peter Ebdon performed a similar shot in his final when he won the world Championships, he was snookered behind the pink. Accidental the cue ball travelled along the cushion to strike the object ball which then drooped in the pocket.  No foul was called as the cue ball did not actually leave the table so a jump shot could not have occured.

  2. its not a foul as long as it stays in line of the table

  3. As long as the ball remains within the confines of the table, and doesn't fall to the floor, it is not considered to be a foul.

  4. I have no idea?

  5. doesnt matter what happens, if it lands back on the table its all good! you can continue, if the ball runs along the edge and drops in the pocket its not a foul, i have seen it happen alex higgins done it about 20 years ago and it was ok... any ball needs to leave the table to be a foul

  6. I may be wrong, but I have always played snooker assuming that the rule that 'if a ball leaves the table it is a foul', should be read 'if a ball leaves the felt it is a foul'.

Allowances made for ball on ball reactions, assuming it is unintentional.

Therefore if you get an unintentional ball on ball reaction and it runs along the upper felt of the cushion, that would be acceptable.

In pool though, I spend most of my time trying to get a reaction, which is definitely a foul in snooker.

Like the best games, many of the rules are in fact principles. So a rule reading 'no cheating' would mean what the players agree is 'no cheating'. A much better form of competition. Unlike today's microscopically analysed rules to find loopholes.
