  1. They remove the band and add another one. It is all on the hockey hall of fame website.

  4. The oldest ring is taken off, flattened, and placed in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

    The other rings are then moved up.

    There are 5 rings on the Cup, and 13 teams can be fit onto a ring,

    meaning that every winner has 65 years on the Cup.

  5. A ring (the oldest one on the current Cup at the time) is taken off and a new one is started.  This last happened a couple years ago.  There are old rings in the Hockey Hall Of Fame.  Not all rings are on the Cup.

  6. They keep adding another ring, or layer to the trophy, the lettering is engravedvery small so you can get alot of years on 1 ring. The trophy is carried by a curator around the world for viewing, and it's transported by a case, only touched with white linen gloves. When a team wins the trophy each player gets the trophy in their possesion for 24 hours to do what ever they like with the trophy. There are many crazy stories about where the trophy has been, and what the guys do with the trophy. Some guys have slept with it...I believe at one time it was even in a swimming pool. You can do a search on stories about it on the internet.

  9. I've heard they actually take some of the "rings" with names off of it and replace it with a blank one.

    If you go through the history, you can see the cup itself is several different heights.
