  1. Often, some colleges do not know who will be teaching a class until it starts.  This is often the case when additional sections have been opened due to increased enrollment or demand.  Generally, classes are canceled before the semester starts if there is low enrollment so it gives the student time to choose another class.  It'll be a fun surprise to see who your professor will be.  Don't make the mistake of not going to class the first day.  Many colleges will drop you from that class if you don't show up so that other students can enroll.

  2. This happens to me all of the time. Usually what has happened is that the university has not been able to assign a teacher to that section. This is due to them hiring for the class, not sure what the demand will be for the course, a graduate student will be teaching the class, the web site has not been updated or several other factors. I would not take it to mean the class has been cancelled if there is not a teacher listed and I would attend it until you hear otherwise.

  3. no, if the class is full they'll find someone w/o a phd to do it, there are thousands of money hungry grad students willing to snatch up last second assignments.

  4. Someone will be assigned if the enrollment meets minimum number.  You will meet them tomorrow!  (college professor)  (This is common, it allows flexibility in prof's schedules in determining who will teach what class, also allows adjunct profs to teach)
