My doc is going out of town for two weeks and asked me if I would like to be induced at 39 weeks. Or I would have to have the on call doc. Which I don't want at all.

  1. I was induced with pitocin in my IV.  Contractions come on fast and hard.  My advice:  get the epidural.  I took a nap once I got the epidural and woke up with a lot of pressure and after 6 hours of labor and 3 good pushes my son was here.  So much easier than my first which was 18 hours of labor and 2 hours of pushing.

  2. i found a site that can better explain everything about it than i can.

  3. All they do is hook you up to an IV and inject a drug called pitocin which is what causes the contractions. You will than be in labor. I had to be induced with my first and thats all they did. I was in labor for 22 hours. Unfortunately my daughter was having a bad reaction to the drug and I had to have an emergency c-section. Don't let that scare you though. Everyone is different. My friend had to be induced 2 times and everything went great with her. She had her second a couple months ago and was only in labor for 2 hours.  Congratulations on your pregnancy! I wish you luck
