a year ago my friend and i got pulled over in my car (she was driving) for doing 88 in a 55. she was given a ticket and we were sent on our way. we are from MA and the ticket was in NY. she never paid it and never did anything about it. she feels its irrelevant because it was a different state and ishe claims t cant affect her ability to get a new liscense. problem is she turns 21 the 1st week in september and her liscense expires on her 21st bday....will she be denied when she goes to the DMV to get a new one because of the ticket in NY? she thinks the only thing that can happen is if she gets pulled over in NY and they run her info it will come up as an unpaid ticket.. could she have a bench warrent or anything like that?

do these things just go away? she claims she hasnt gotten anything from the court in NY and i find it hard to believe this would just go away with no problem

  1. It depends. Sometimes tickets and stuff like that fall through the cracks, so if shes really lucky she might be totally clear. However, that's pretty unlikely. Most likely there is a warrant for her arrest in the state of NY. But in MA she should be okay, i'd just watch crossin that border.

  2. yes when you go to do something else it will come back 10 years later or even 5 with biger fine they have so many tickets given out their busy it will come back with fine

  3. The fact is that she may have a warrant in N.Y. state but as long as she stays away from there she has no worries. Out of state tickets are not on record in your state so no worries when renewing licenses. Also with so many tickets on computer files they are deleted after a few years to make room for all the new tickets and warrants. Good Luck and SLOW DOWN!

  4. she probably has a warrant for her arrest now and she can not get a new license. She will go to jail.

  5. When you don't pay a ticket in another state a notification is sent to the state you do reside in and most likely your license will be revoked &/or suspended. She will have to contact the N.Y. branch and find out how to take care of the fine in addition to any additional fees and now probably have to pay a re-instatement fee in MA to regain her license. If it was only a speeding ticket it shouldn't affect your license but, you may want to check with your insurance company as your vehicle was involved and the registration will be listed!

  6. I live on the border of near Illinois but I live in Indiana. I never pay any of my tickets in Chicago, cause their a corrupt city anyhow, and never had any problems. Statute of Limitations throughs tickets out after three years, and I have proof because I got ran in for an auto pedestrian accident in Illinois and they ran my license and said looks good, be careful and on your way! Haha don't stress it, no worries on this one

  7. They could put out a warrant for her and her license could be suspended.

  8.   Your friend needs to pay her ticket. Remember the words of Joe Louis, the world champion prize fighter " You can run, but you can't hide!'

Your friend will have to pays court costs plus a fine, and it will get costly. Your friend's insurance will also go up, if she pleads no contest, she might not have any points taken off of her license. You might want to check your state law, it might be different.

  9. If you don't pay, when you go to renew your license or registration the ticket will show and then you will have to pay.
