Someone has backed into my car I need to process a insurance claims but dont got police report

  1. You leave yourself open to "He said, She said" type arguments if your insurance company takes this up with the other driver's insurance.

    Sure, you pay for your insurance company to have your back in these instances, but that's making things tougher on them!


  2. most insurance companies list calling the police in case of an accident on their cards you carry with you. This protects you later since the other party may change the story and make it look like your fault. Most Cities have a place at the police department where you can do an accident report within 3 days of the occurance.

It depends on regulations where you live.  Many states require filing a report with police or DMV if there are any injuries or property damage beyond a dollar limit (including non-vehicle objects involved, like fence, house, etc.).  While it does not necessarily have to be done immediately, there may be a time limit like 10 days.

  4. you should at least attempt to contact the police, however in many cities police are no longer responding to minor accidents and if they do they're only giving out a state report to file.

    Contact the local police and see if you can still file a report.  Usually this can be done at a substation.
