I was at a party last night at a friend's house, and my house keys, car keys and money got stolen. I'm not particularly worried about the money, but the keys are what worry me. My dad wants to file a police report, but the parents of the kid who had the party won't be home for three weeks. If I were to file the report, (this is so if my car was to get stolen insurance would reimburse me for it) would the police go to the house, would the kid get in trouble (hes over 18), would they notify his parents etc.?

  1. If you don't have any reason to think your host stole you property, it's very unlikely the police would go there. (For that matter, it's pretty unlikely they will do anything but take the report if you can't give them something to go on.) Go ahead and report, if you want. All the thief wanted was the money.

  2. Does it really matter?  These are YOUR possession that your talking about, potential theft of a vehicle, burglary into your residence and your worried about the kid who is over 18 and an adult who is responsible for HIMSELF.........take care of yourself and watch your back because no one is going to do it for you.  Think about what is more important here.

  3. You or your Dad need to file at least a police report, that way you are covered if someone tries to steal your car and wrecks it. Also, check to see how much changing your locks will cost. This should be taken very seriously, did the person that took them think of you? No way, protect yourself.

  4. The cops would go to the scene of the crime & investigate.  A police report should've been made out yesterday, if it wasn't, do it now.
