I am just curious, I have not gotten a DUI before but I am wondering if anyone in here has or knows what happens to a person on their first DUI with a clean record? This is actually more based on a conversation with a friend and we were wondering, neither of us are in trouble with one or anything. Thank you

  1. DUI (first offense), in most states, is a misdemeanor.  The accused is looking at a fairly stiff fine as well as a license suspension that will be determined by the presiding judge.  Second offenses, within 5 years of the first, are usually a felony.

  2. You meet Bubba and he reams out your t**d cutter.

  3. DUI's are rough in Arizona, I would drink and drive in another state. PEACE got the usual for a 1st offense

  4. You  get a fine...

  5. If you hired a good attorney, or maybe any, (if this is your first offense), he or she can get this reduced to a faulty equipment, something of that nature.  A misdemeanor.  It is quite simple, but cost money.

  6. Well it depends where you are. For example, here in NSW, Australia, your licence will be suspended, you will be given demerit points, a large fine, or possible imprisonment. You can appeal this in a court to reduce the penalty, however, it remains on your record for your life.

  7. If convicted of DUI in New York ... you got problems!

If your lawyer can't get the charges reduced, loss of driving privileges for a minimum of 6 months, up to one year in jail, and fines that can go as high as $1,000!  Plus you get a misdemeanor on your criminal record (that does not help if you are looking for a job!).

The smart money says just don't do it!  BTW ... those penalties are if the driver is over 21 ... NY is a "zero tolerance state".  If you are under 21 and convicted of DUI (or even minor in possession for that matter) ... might as well give your heart and soul to Jesus cause your butt belongs to the court!

  8. I got a DUI last year, here in Arizona. It was my first DUI and I got 10 days in jail, 9 suspended as long as I took counseling classes. Instead of community service I had to attend a MADD class (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). I also had to pay the fines which came out to be around $1600. The classes I had to attend were $20 per class and I went to 10 of them plus two 8-hour education sessions at $25 a piece. My license was suspended with a 30-60, which is 30 days suspended and 60 days you have a permit that lets you drive to and from school or work. I actually just took my Traffic Survival School class today and I am officially done with my DUI BULLSHIT
