It depends on whether you have joint accounts or keep your finances separate.  That's something you and your fiance should decide before you get married.  Some couples have joint checking accounts and put both names on any loans they may take out.  By doing so, it goes on both credit reports.  Other couples keep separate checking accounts and have separate bills.  If you apply for a credit account in your name only then it only goes on your credit report.


  2. With your credit, anything separate from before the marriage will stay separate unless you merge the accounts. Anything you do after the marriage can still remain separate if you keep the accounts separate.

    If you merge anything, it will show on both credit reports.

    Now, credit reporting is different from who is responsible for paying...especially in the event of divorce. That depends on whether you live in a community property state or not. For that, you would need to ask an attorney.
