What happens when you get stopped by the popo?

Question

driving a street illegal car, say an imported silvia 15 or skyline. Will you receive a fine (I'm assuming) or will they impound the car? Will you be able to get it out?

The R33 skyline spec 2 is legal to be imported into the US as long as it meets regs required for road use where you live some states will not allow imports whilst some will.

Other then that i often see silvia/240sx with skyline conversions so another angle which is often used to disguise a skyline.

Or as said convert a silvia/240sx to a skyline/

People i have seen whom have been caught and there car was reged in the US have had there cars taken away some have been given them back with a limit to do all required mods whilst others have lost there cars.

I'm not positive, but something I read a couple years ago made me think they'd just write some tickets.  Of course that depends on where you are.

The article I read was that the police found out about an upcoming cannonball-type long distance street race that was organized, so they showed up in force at the bar that was the starting line, and started ticketing every car in the parking lot with illegal modifications just to say--we're here, you aren't racing today.  

If you were racing and not just driving a street illegal car, they may be able to impound the car in some places, but most of the time a car is only siezed and kept if a felony was committed--again, that will vary from place to place.

Imported cars can be legally driven in the US, you just have to file some paperwork.  If it's illegal meaning the hardware and upgraded performance parts, then they can take the car from you.  But they might just give you a warning telling you to get rid of it or any illegal parts.  Depends on how friendly the police are in your area.  Most people, much less cops, don't even know a silvia from a 240 so I think you're fine unless you give them a reason to pull you over.
