I went to the doctor a little earlier because I thought I had a UTI. Well I guess there was infection but the kept the test overnight to see where the infection is. Anywho, The doctor was saing something about I might have an early kidney infection. How do they get rid of that, One of my friends had one and was in the hospital for a long time. IS THIS GONNA HAPPEN TO ME?

  1. Generally they do put you in the hospital for IV antibiotics for a kidney infection. However, of your DR sent you home that is a good sign. They may want to just use powerful antibiotics to clear up the infection. Be sure you are drinking LOTS of water.

  2. Hi.  I have problems with kidney infections and kidney stones.  I do not have any pain with my kidney infections but I do have very high fevers.  The first kidney infection I had starting showing up after working all day and then driving 1/2 hr. home.  Just after I got home I came down with the fever.  I was so cold that my teenage sons were covering me up with blanket after blanket and this still did not help.  My teeth were chattering I was so cold.  I asked my 250 lb. son to lay on me as if he were also a blanket.  My chills subsided long enough for me to get to the er.  Ending up I had kidney infection, this also happened the second time but without pain.  If you are having pain in your lower back you could have kidney stones, UTI, bladder infection....etc., usually something to do with the urinary tract.  Hope this helps.  Good luck.

  3. They will treat it with antibiotics. If it's "early" then you may not end up in the hospital. I ended up in the hospital once, but was not there for a "long" time. Maybe a few days. Don't worry you should be OK.

In the mean time make sure you drink LOTS of clear liquids. No soda, tea, coffee, or alcohol.

Cranberry juice is good because it does help clean out your system.

If you don't like it try a blend, like apple, strawberry, or raspberry. And they make tablets that you can get in the supplement section of the drug store.

  4. A UTI is easy to treat. So don't worry! They treated mine with cephalexin and lots of water. Plus get plenty of rest and stay off your feet for a couple of days. Don't drink soft drinks or anything like orange juice. Get well soon!
