What happens when you heat a spoonful of table salt in a frying pan?

  1. not until 1200 and it becomes molten. quite cool looking. but you have to have the proper equipment to reach that temp. nor do you want to be near it, within 7-10ft of it, its hot enough to burn your skin through the air.


  2. Nothing happens.  It remains an ionic compound...crystals.  If heated far beyond the capabilities of a kitchen range, to 1474°F, it will become molten, that is, a liquid.
